The London Development Agency, in partnership with Newham Council, has today announced a shortlist of eight developers who are invited to come up with proposals to develop its Royal Albert Docks site in east London’s Royal Docks.
The shortlist includes some of the biggest UK property developers, together with major international investors – evidence of strong market interest in the 35 acre site.
The shortlisted developers and consortia are:
- Canary Wharf Ltd
- Dauphin Holdings Group Ltd
- Micro World Developments Ltd
- MUSE Developments Ltd
- St Modwen Properties Plc
- Salmon Harvester Properties Ltd
- Sinowest Construction Group
- Wrenbridge Land Ltd
They are now asked to come up with outline proposals that match the LDA and Newham’s world class ambitions for the site by 12 March 2012. A final shortlist of developers will then be invited to come up with detailed proposals for the site. A preferred developer for the Royal Albert Dock site is due to be selected by September 2012.

The Royal Albert Dock site lies next to the University of East London and is close to the ExCel exhibition centre and City Airport. It lies within the Royal Docks Enterprize Zone, which is designed to accelerate business, development and infrastructure momentum across the Royal Docks.
The site is cleared with the exception of two Grade II listed buildings located adjacent to Beckton Park DLR station – the Central Buffet and the former Dock Managers Office and it is expected to support a mix of uses including business (B1), education, leisure and tourism and supporting uses. The marketing campaign for the Royal Albert Dock site is being managed by Drivers Jonas Deloitte. The selection of the Royal Albert Dock shortlist follows their completion of a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, which was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) in July. London & Partners also helped with the marketing of the site internationally, including a visit to potential Chinese investors in September.
The London Development Agency is also seeking a developer for its 50 acre Silvertown Quays site and is due to select a preferred partner from its shortlist of three final candidates by March 2012.
